Going into the last day, Bryan New was leading, but only by a little under a pound.  New started on one of his best spots, which was an old underwater pond dam.  He started with some pretty bad luck by breaking off the first 2 bites of the day and then missing several more before he decided to leave that area and go to an area that had a lot of fish in it yesterday.
One great nickname for Bryan New today, would have been the bird whisperer. New said he has never seen so many different types of birds in one little area.  There were herons, ducks and cormorants literally everywhere.
After getting to his second stop, he noticed that he had quite a bit of company from other fellow Bassmaster Opens anglers.  He managed to squeeze into the mix and go to work.
New was switching back and forth from a fairly large swimbait and a small profile Greenfish jig, called the Bad Little Dude, or BLD.  When he wanted to cover water, he would throw the swimbait, but when he would get in the areas that he knew for a fact had bass, he would switch back to the jig and slow everything down.  And guess what, it worked!
