WALKER, Minn. — Due to weather-related unsafe boating conditions, B.A.S.S. postponed Day 1 of the St. Croix Bassmaster Open at Leech Lake presented by SEVIIN.
The full field of anglers will now compete on Friday and Saturday, which will also be the conclusion of the tournament.
“After consulting with the National Weather Service and seeing conditions on Leech Lake firsthand this morning, we determined that postponing today’s competition was the decision needed,” said Hank Weldon, executive director, tournaments.
“Angler safety is always our priority. While disappointing, this decision helps ensure the best possible competition for all anglers.”
Additionally, the weather service forecasted gusty winds up to 25 mph on the 102,000-acre lake that is among Minnesota’s largest inland waterbodies.
Take-offs on Friday and Saturday begin at 6 a.m. with the weigh-ins at 2 p.m. at Walker Public Boat Dock.
