Trey McKinney landed his third keeper at around 8:15 a.m.
He had the opportunity to catch his fourth keeper as well, but that fish broke his line. Hat in hands, McKinney knew it was a missed opportunity.
“It was a giant,” he said.
A short time later, however, McKinney made up for it by picking up two nice keepers to fill his limit and now he has an unofficial daily weight of 10-4 and sits in second place behind Joey Nania.
The wind has picked up over Lake Eufaula, the most wind many of the anglers have seen since the practice period.
After a brief period of cloud cover, the sky is bright and sunny.
McKinney has landed his bass on two similar presentations and is continuously watching his graph in search of bigger than average bass.
