RACINE, Wisc. – In 2016 Humminbird took sonar into the Megahertz range with MEGA Imaging. With nearly three times the output of standard imaging, MEGA’s high frequency creates the most detailed images ever seen on a fish finder. These images were initially limited to MEGA Side Imaging GPS combo units. Now, Humminbird is expanding its incredible imaging technology to MEGA Down Imaging GPS combo units.
“MEGA Imaging really changed the game,” explains Humminbird Brand Manager Ray Schaffart. “We established MEGA Imaging on HELIX and SOLIX MEGA Side Imaging GPS combo models. For 2017, we’ve added three HELIX MEGA Down Imaging GPS combo models for anglers who want the MEGA Imaging capability only on a Down Imaging combo unit.”
The three new models are the HELIX 9, 10 and 12 MEGA DI GPS G2N units. These models are capable of broadcasting MEGA Down Imaging returns on 9, 10 or 12-inch screens. The LCD displays have best-in-class brightness so anglers can clearly see on the screen even in direct sunlight. They also feature Bluetooth capability and plug-and-fish networking to easily connect to Minn Kota i-Pilot Link, Humminbird 360 Imaging and additional networkable Humminbird units.
In addition to MEGA Imaging for the sharpest, most detailed screen images in fishing, the HELIX MEGA DI GPS G2N units also utilize CHIRP Digital Sonar, resulting in greater clarity, improved target separation and reduced noise for more accurate identification of fish and structure.
The combination of MEGA Imaging and CHIRP delivers the finest details beneath the water’s surface, and is the most accurate representation of structure that’s ever been seen. “It allows anglers to be more confident in their decisions, and feel that they’ve identified the places fish are hanging out,” Schaffart says.
