What does it do?

In case you’ve been living in a cave, tungsten weights have several benefits over lead. First, they’re smaller in size per weight class, i.e., a 1/4-ounce tungsten weight is considerably smaller than a 1/4-ounce piece of lead. Second, the dense nature of the metal offers a much crisper, livelier feel of what your weight and rig is going through. The lone drawback is the price, but companies such as Top Brass have found ways to cut costs without the end product suffering. These are high-end weights with an average cost. Both worm and flipping models are available.

How do I use it?

The worm weights are a traditional conical shape and are great for Texas rigs or light flipping and pitching duties as well as Carolina rigs and when pegged on split shot rigs among others. The flipping weights are best for their namesake, flipping, but also serve well on Carolina rigs.

What sets it apart?

These weights are insert-free, highly polished and have a dull, matte black finish for low visibility. Polishing a tungsten weight removes knicks and burrs which could cut or mar your line. Available weights are 1/16 to 3/8 ounce (worm) and 1/2 to 1 1/2 (flipping).
