What is it?
The Megabass Ito Shiner. Though the OneTen is Megabass’ best-known jerkbait, this is its granddaddy, the initial jerkbait design concocted by Megabass’ chief designer, Yuki Ito.
What does it do?
It’s a jerkbait designed for the American market (though it’s seeing a limited release in Japan), specifically Megabass pro staffers Aaron Martens and Edwin Evers.
How do I use it?
You can use it like any old jerkbait, but you’ll get different results. See below.
What sets it apart?
The body is much “taller” than a regular jerkbait, which offers more surface area for greater flash, therefore more appeal at greater distances. The thinner tail section has a built-in flutter when worked. The Ito Shiner also casts like a dream thanks to three internal tungsten weights that shift aft upon cast, then fore when the retrieve is started. It dives roughly 6 feet deep and slides wider than most jerkbaits. Think of it as a power/finesse jerkbait for high-pressure situations when you need to find fish that are biting funny. The bill is also cupped slightly, which is said to make the bait more responsive to angler input and offer what Megabass refers to as agility.
