What does it do?
It does the Rat-L-Trap lipless thing for the discerning anglers who also happens to be on a budget.
Why do I need it?
This time of year is about as good as any for a lipless crankbait (don’t forget about early spring, either). As the grass begins slowly dying off, the fish will move into the sparser spots and hunker down, waiting to ambush bait that happens by.
How do I use it?
Any number of ways, but ideally you’d run it over or through grass that will allow it. Lipless baits are also good for ripping up and off of shell bars and rockpiles.
What sets it apart?
It weighs 3/4 ounce but is small for its weight, so it’s easily bombed into schooling bass, but it’s also light enough to run over shallow weedbeds. It’s available in 17 colors, so there’s one that’ll match the forage in your lake. The head has a wide, flat portion on the front that helps reduce snags by deflecting off of rock, wood or whatever it runs into. The compact size also appeals to a wider selection of bass.
