Megabass of America hereby announces that it will sponsor veteran Bassmaster Elite Series pro Edwin Evers for the 2013 season. He’ll join Aaron Martens, Luke Clausen and Shin Fukae on the Megabass tour-level pro-staff.
The announcement comes just weeks before the start of the 2013 Bassmaster Classic, to be held on Oklahoma’s Grand Lake, where Sooner State resident Evers will be among the early favorites. The partnership could not have come at a better time for both parties.
“The Vision 110 has been in my arsenal for years,” Evers said. “It’s the premier jerkbait out there and all the pros use it. It’ll more than likely win the Classic.”
Over the course of his professional career, the 38 year-old Evers has won seven B.A.S.S. tournaments, including three in the past four years. He’s a perpetual contender for the Angler of the Year trophy and has fished 11 Bassmaster Classics, finishing in the top ten on three occasions.
“Edwin is not only one of the premier anglers in our sport today, but he also embodies the core values, work ethic and competitive spirit at the heart of the Megabass organization,” said Yuskei Murayama, Vice President of Megabass of America. “Edwin has exhibited a tireless drive to perfect his craft, and I know his input will be invaluable to our development efforts. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome him to the Megabass family.”
The agreement between Megabass and Evers represents an additional step towards the company’s goal of expanding its US presence and creating products specifically tailored to US fisheries.
“That’s the part that’s most exciting for me,” Evers said. “They want my direct input on anything and everything. The two things they care about are winning tournaments and product development and that’s a situation I’ve always wanted to be in.”
