WHAT SETS IT APART
Designed by former Bassmaster Elite Series pro Morizo Shimizu, the Evergreen CH-1 is built to run less than a foot deep, so it’s ideal for a range of shallow-water pursuits, as well as shad spawns and schooling bass scenarios. With a combination of tungsten and stainless steel, the weight transfer system creates a complex, low-pitched sound, while also producing a unique and powerful high-pitched wobble.
HOW DO I USE IT?
One of the CH-1’s key attributes is a quick response at the beginning of the retrieve and a consistent action at any pace. With its circuit board bill design and a fixed weight at a low center of gravity, this bait hits the water ready to perform. Available in 10 colors, the floating 2 1/4-inch, 7/16-ounce crankbait includes a No. 5 front treble hook and a No. 6 at the rear. The CH-1’s wide grip and wide action helps it avoid cover, but even when the bait comes into contact with wood or vegetation, it recovers quickly.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:
The Shimizu/Evergreen partnership addresses an issue common to small crankbaits — casting distance. (Particularly troublesome with baitcasting gear.) The CH-1 overcomes this with a rattle room at the end of its body, which is filled with tungsten and stainless-steel balls. This promotes considerable casting distance and allows an angler to cover a lot of water. What anglers will appreciate is the way the CH-1 performs equally well at low or high speeds and does not “blow out” during a fast retrieve.
