WHAT IS IT?
BOTE Rackham Gatorshell + APEX Pedal Drive
WHAT SETS IT APART?
From the 2022 ICAST Best In Category award, comes this new iteration of BOTE’s Rackham Gatorshell Paddle. The update adds the game-changing compatibility with the APEX Pedal Drive and rudder system. By building this new hull with a pedal port, the company has elevated the Rackham into a true hybrid of the standup paddle board and kayak worlds. Already known for its fishing readiness, with impressive stability, glide and weight capacity, this vessel now offers expanded range and hands-free fishing.
HOW DO I USE IT?
The APEX Pedal Drive’s 10:1 gear ratio ensures smooth, efficient pedaling that allows you to travel far with minimal energy. The drive includes a clear viewing port-hole, no-touch forward and reverse, and a spring-loaded, kick-up rudder to prevent damage. Included in the Rackham’s 12-foot, 4-inch design are two holders for kayak or SUP paddles, while BOTE’s proprietary Gatorshell material employs ballistics grade composites for a reliably durable outer shell.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:
A true fusion of existing forms, BOTE’s new model allows the user to quickly transition from standup paddle board, to paddle-powered kayak, to pedal-drive and back, as needed or desired. With a simple pivot, the APEX drive lifts out of the water so the user can stand up and paddle or do so from the seat. BOTE wisely maintained the Rackham’s original functional design and only adjusted it to include the pedal port and connection points for the inflatable Aero SUP Paddle Seat.
