Gear Review: BOOYAH Covert Finesse Spinnerbait

WHAT IS IT?

BOOYAH Covert Finesse Spinnerbait

WHAT SETS IT APART?

Expanding on the sizable selection of models for a wide range of scenarios, BOOYAH grew its Covert Spinnerbait lineup by adding a finesse model. Built to Bassmaster Elite Jason Christie’s exacting standards, the new spinnerbait is made with a smaller frame and blades. A modified BOOYAH head with raked gills to offset blade torque keeps the bait running true. Made with a two-tiered skirt, the Covert Finesse Spinnerbait sports Hildebrandt blades in double willow-leaf, double Colorado and Oklahoma/Colorado configurations, with multiple color options.

HOW DO I USE IT?

When bass are feeding on tiny forage, or if clear water and high barometric pressure has them in a finicky mood, the Covert Finesse offers a more appealing version of a familiar form. In scenarios where this bait is most relevant, long casts are imperative, so BOOYAH and Christie found ways of distributing weight to build smaller spinnerbait frames in 3/8- and 1/2-ounce sizes. This allows anglers to present diminutive profiles with the necessary castability.

ANGLER’S INSIGHT:

Suffice it to say, Christie’s spinnerbait prowess equips him to produce bites when others struggle. So, when he and BOOYAH decided they needed to expand the Covert lineup, the reasons were solid. Christie said the Covert Finesse Spinnerbait excels on pressured waters, so it’s likely you’d see him fishing a full-size spinnerbait at the start of a tournament and then shifting to the smaller model later in the event, as fish shy away from larger profiles.
