On Bassmaster LIVE on Fox Sports 1 you will hear the analysts speak about the anglers casting to the “sweet spot.” That’s one specific casting target on the bottom being used by the bass as ambush points or staging areas.
There are obviously millions of sweet spots on Lake Fork in the form of standing timber. This week the sweet spots are in transition areas between shallow water spawning areas and the deeper offshore areas favored by many of the largemouth. Those are mostly windblown points located near deeper water like a creek or river channel.
“One of my deeper fish came on a spot where a timber edge and fenceline come together; there’s a high, hard spot there with a channel swing,” said Lee Livesay, the Friday leader. “The other ones were on a little point with timber.”
And here’s more to dial in his sweet spot.
“While I’m throwing in thaat timber, I’m trying to get the best angle to get the fish out of the timber.”
You get the picture.
Livesay and other top anglers are using crankbaits to seine through the strike zones to find the sweetest spots, and then switching to magnum-size worms to do more damage.
