Looking at the bait selections of the leaders on BassTrakk, there are some common themes and some subtle differences. Most of the top contenders, as well as the Top 50, are targeting suspended bass with a 1/4- to 3/8-ounce jighead paired with some sort of small, minnow-style soft plastic.
The best we can tell, this looks like what current leader Kyoya Fujita is doing. As is Jay Przekurat sitting in 5th. Cody Huff sits in 2nd, using a slightly heavier 1/2-ounce jighead and a much larger 5-inch soft plastic jerkbait.
Alex Redwine (3rd) is using the moping/Damiki rig, but also mixing in a spybait, something we haven’t seen from others. Justin Atkins (6th) is doing something a little different as well, pairing a 1/4-ounce underspin with his soft plastic minnow.
