A good note from Ronnie Moore worth passing along: After the Lay Lake Elite last month, there were only eight anglers who had made the Top 50 cut to fish on Day 3 in all five Elites. When the scales settled yesterday, only three remained perfect six events into the season: John Cox, Kyle Welcher, and Stetson Blaylock.
Not surprisingly, these three anglers are doing really well in the Progressive Angler of the Year race. Welcher sits in first, Cox in second and Blaylock is hanging in in seventh. Only nine points separate Welcher and Cox. Welcher sat in second on the Sabine after Day 2, Cox lingered just 10 spots back in 12th. We could easily see the race tighten or these two even flip-flop today. Both may make the Top 10 to fish tomorrow for that matter.
