If you’ve watched Bassmaster LIVE the last few days, you’ve probably heard Brandon Palaniuk begging at times for a fish to “keep your mouth full of water” as he fights it to the boat.
Palaniuk has had several fish barely hooked this week on big spoons and big crankbaits. As those fish near the boat, he does all he can to keep them from jumping, often dragging them a full circle around the boat. Palaniuk has done this when the fish have their mouths open wide, knowing that they’ll have a harder time jumping in that position.
It’s worked to perfection, most of the time, helping him put key fish in the boat that might have come unbuttoned on one final lunge from the water.
