A lot of talk this week around Brandon Palaniuk, his AOY bid and the pending birth of his and wife Tiffanie’s first child.
Palaniuk has said repeatedly, when the call comes, he’s outta here.
We reached out to Tiffanie for a midday report on how she’s doing back home in Rathdrum, Idaho while husband Brandon contends for the win on Pickwick.
“Still holding strong,” Tiffanie reported. “Nothing has activated yet from what I can tell.”
This has really been a wild storyline all week, and a variable the Palaniuks have been preparing for all season. Brandon made the comment earlier today that he’s been fishing hard all year with the intention to do good enough that if he had to miss Pickwick, it wouldn’t cost him the Classic.
“Had to” is poor phrasing on my part. Palaniuk very much wants to head home if need be before this one is over, if it means he gets to welcome his little girl into the world. So he’s determined and excited to bail here if and when the call comes.
Tiffanie is campaigning for him to stay and finish the tournament regardless, but she knows there’s no stopping him.
“If it was up to me, he would be fishing the tournament no questions asked but he insists to be here if I go into labor, so that’s his call.“
So far so good in all directions for the Palaniuks. We’ll see what the next 48 hours hold.
