Matt Robertson loves big baits, and he cannot lie

It’s merely an assumption right now, but we’re guessing Matt Robertson has been lobbing a big bait to capture the unofficial Day 1 lead. Maybe it’s more of a hope even, than a guess. Robertson stuck with his big bait approach all throughout the 2023 Bassmaster Classic on Fort Loudon. He boated five fish for nearly 20-pounds there doing so, but it unfortunately took him the first two days combined to do it.

Regardless of how he’s is catching them, he’s putting on a show. The rough and rowdy Robertson has 25- pounds in the boat, including a 6- pounder and an 8- pounder. His smallest fish weighs 3-4. So he could still add to his bottom line with a last minute cull.

If he is fishing the big swimbaits again, Robertson may have a new theme song in the making…

I like big baits and I cannot lie

You other anglers can’t deny

When a bass starts to chase

and eats that big glide in her face

you’ll think you got hung

Make me wanna get witcha

And take yo pitcha

Alright…. Weigh-in is starting now. Get over there. I’ll see y’all tomorrow.
