Scott Martin is currently sitting in fourth. We just watched Martin boat one offshore over 3- pounds on what looked like a flutter spoon. We’ve seen a few other anglers using a spoon to trigger strikes this morning as well. The bite is slow on many of these ledges and the anglers are having to either try to trigger a reaction strike with a big spoon or a hair jig, or resort to force feeding them with a Neko rig or dropshot like we’ve seen Carl Jocumsen do.
We’ve hardly seen anyone just burning a crankbait this morning. That bite should come into play more later in the day as the current groups the bass up and positions them a little better. That’s when we’ll see anglers make quick and big moves up the leaderboard, when they’re able to crank their way to a few big ones really quickly.
