Brandon Lester hasn’t moved more than 10 feet all morning. That was the observation that Bassmaster LIVE host Mark Zona made this morning. Lester was in and out in a hurry on Day 1, catching a monster bag quick and getting out of there in hopes that no one had seen him. But today, Lester has scratched out another solid bag over 16-pounds and chosen to stay on his starting spot and “burn it to the ground”, as Zona put it, meaning he’s going to milk it for everything its worth here on Day 2.
Why has Lester chosen to stay today when he vacated yesterday? Well, the cat’s out of the bag now. Lots of folks know where Lester is fishing. And it’s not his competition he’s most worried about, it’s all the local anglers coming out of the woodwork to fish the Friday night derbies and the daytime tournaments the rest of the weekend. It’s not necessarily that locals will intentionally be hole jumping Lester, it’s just that surely some of them already know about this spot and he either won’t be able to get on it tomorrow, or all the fish will be sore lipped.
So if that’s to be the case, Lester has decided he’s going to be the one doing the sore-lipping. He’s going to catch everything he can catch here before leaving and burn this hole to the ground.
