On the water photographer Shane Durance just caught up with Brandon Lester and gathered a little information for us on how his monster morning went down. We all assumed he was fishing deep offshore, considering he has a lot of experience doing so here on Pickwick.
But we just learned that his big bag came shallow. And he was alone. He left the shallow fish and is now planning to rotate through deep holes the rest of the day, which should play into his favor since that bite is predicted to pick up with the current later today.
Lester was able to put nearly 20- pounds in the boat shallow, without burning the hole. He left it intentionally, trying to get out of there before any of the other competitors or local anglers saw him.
