Day 3 leader Kyoya Fujita has not closed the door yet here on Championship Monday. He has one solid fish in the boat, a 3-12 he caught at 8:25. And another 3-8 he caught first thing this morning. But none of the 4-pounders he’s stacked up the last few days to accumulate 67 pounds, 12 ounces and a near-3-pound lead.
Don’t go sweating it too much for Fujita just yet though. Yesterday the finesse-fishing phenom posted these big catches: a 4-5 at 10:23, a 4-0 at 11:16, a 4-5 at 1:14 and a 4-10 1:26. The 4-0 didn’t even make it to weigh-in, as it was trumped by a 4-5 and 4-12 caught earlier in the day.
Jacob Foutz has 19 pounds this morning, the only angler to boat multiple 4-pounders. He sits in 3rd. Justin Atkins in 2nd is the only other angler to catch a 4-pounder today. Fujita has left the door open, but no one has walked through it yet, and he still has the potential to slam it shut before the day’s done.
