Caleb Kuphall turned 39 years old yesterday. He received a late birthday present early today with a 6-pound, 10-ounce bass. This marks only his 28th B.A.S.S. tournament, but the third-year Elite Series pro has established himself as a serious contender at any location. In fact, Brandon Palaniuk mentioned him yesterday as someone to watch this week, saying, “I’d put my money on Caleb Kuphall with that half-ounce jig in his hand.”
Kuphall made a big move up the AOY standings with his 5th place finish in the last event at Chickamauga Lake, jumping 23 places to 21st place after four tournaments. In his previous 27 events, the Wisconsin angler has two first place finishes, two seconds and six top 10s.
