“Eat it, eat it, eat it.” That’s what Day 2 leader Taku Ito is saying this morning, I think. Ito is staring at his electronics, like every other else. He’s casting to fish he sees on his graph, like everyone else. And he’s talking to them as the bait falls, like everyone else.
Now, what Ito is actually saying is something like, “Clik, clik, clik, tuh, tuh, tuh.” But my best guess is he’s talking to them, only in his native tongue, saying, “Eat it, eat it, eat it.” And the bass are listening.
Ito has the VMC Monster Bag of the tournament so far, dumping 25 pounds, 8 ounces on the scales on Day 2. The finesse fishing phenom hailing from Chiba, Japan has two fish in the box already for a little over 5 pounds. Ito has averaged 4.7 pounds per bass through the first two days. An impressive pace.
