This has been excruciating to watch. We thought we’d all be taking our hats off to Joey Cifuentes, after wrapping this one up early here on Championship Sunday. But instead, we just saw him take his signature cowboy hat off and toss it into the bottom of the boat in disgust, after losing yet another solid fish.
Cifuentes has fished all but flawlessly the last two days. On Day 1, he lost several. But after adapting to the chaotic environment his fishing in, Cifuentes seemed to have a handle on things. This morning though, he’s broken a 3-pound-plus bass off in the timber and lost multiple big fish that he could almost put his hands on. Painful, painful stuff.
