Jacob Foutz has had a painfully slow morning, compared to yesterday. He has two in the livewell so far this morning, a 4- and 3-pounder. But he had a 5-pounder in the boat as well this morning, albeit ever so briefly.
Foutz made the comment as he fought this fish into the boat, “I’m going to have to let it go.” Having seen the fish before the bite, Foutz was sight fishing when it bit. And the fish was hooked outside the mouth, ever so technically. The fish was hooked in the lip, but Foutz didn’t feel comfortable confirming that the hook point went from inside the mouth to outside the mouth.
A brutal but super honorable call on Foutz’s part.
