John Cox is one of only a handful of anglers making the hour or so run down to Bay Springs. On Day 1, this long run seemed to be a bit of a waste of time, with the best bags coming out of Bay Springs landing anglers like Cox in the mid-30s in the standings with 15-pounds or so.
But on Day 2, Bay Springs showed out, with Cox presumably catching the biggest bag of the day there at 22-3 and Tyler Rivet bringing in the biggest bass of the event from Bay Springs, setting the Phoenix Boats Big Bass mark to beat at 7-15.
Cox made the long run down to Bay Springs again this morning and has arrived. Most of his damage from Day 2 was done later in the day, catching big ones feeding on bluegill in a super shallow spot according to the reporting of B.A.S.S. writer Steve Wright. We’ve heard little more than Wright’s report so far as to exactly what Cox is doing. But, we have a LIVE camera with Cox today that’s about to snatch the cat right out of the bag and give us all the goods on what Cox is doing. Looking forward to seeing that myself.
