Most of you know by now that I’m a big believer in education. There’s no substitute for it. You have to learn to get better at anything.

From Randy Howell's Bassmaster Classic winning morning to Greg Hackney setting the hook on the 10-10 Carhartt Big Bass at the St Johns River and lots of stuff in between. The next three weeks are really looking up for me. I’m putting this column together while I’m sitting next to Becky in the RV with the two youngest kids in the back.
Last week’s tournament on Dardanelle was a good one for me, although I’m not exactly sure why.

I spent last week in Texas at the Toyota Texas Bass Classic on Lake Fork. Things went a little better. Winning any tournament I’m fishing is always my goal, and I didn’t do that, but I did catch some fish and at least made a respectable showing.

My intention this week was to write all about the upcoming tournament and how I feel rejuvenated after a little time off. But Kevin and Kerry Short’s house being damaged has put a real damper on that.
