This has been an off-and-on-and-off morning for bass fishing so far. It was dead during the first hour. Then about 9 o'clock a flurry started, especially for leader Brandon Gray and third-place Royce Davis. Now we've hit another lull.
Very few fish catches have been reported in the last hour. Gray is the exception. He's now landed six fish today, but the last three in a row have been too short to keep – two spotted bass under the 12-inch minimum and one largemouth under the 16-inch minimum. He caught another short largemouth early, so he has two largemouth keepers so far, a total in the 4- to 5-pound range.
By the way, there is no minimum length limit for spotted bass at DeGray Lake. But B.A.S.S. rules for this tournament require the 12-inch rule.
